Scotland Bound

Fri May 16, 2008, 5:20 AM
One month from today, I'll be stepping off a plane in Scotland, to spend seventeen days roaming around the landscape with camera in hand, models nearby, and with a place to lay my head at the end of the day (well, for the first 11 days anyways, still more B&B's to book).

Most of the pieces for the trip are in place - extra memory cards, external hard-drives, new hiking boots, and in theory, a raincoat (they tell me it rains in Scotland), but the planning continues, with more accommodations to book, and travel plans to rough out...

...one month to go!

Tools I'll be bringing:

IR Converted Nikon D80 & 2 batteries
Nikon D300 & 2 batteries
10-20mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70-200mm lenses
Nodal Ninja (if there is room to pack it)
Canon G9 & 2 batteries
32gb of memory for each camera (except 24gb for the G9)
Arctic Butterfly sensor cleaning system
Extension tubes (as opposed to bringing the macro lens too)
2x converter (which I doubt I will use)
ND, UV and Polarizer filters & in 52mm and 77mm sizes
Mini gray card for colour balance
2 camera raincoats
Gitzo tripod

Dell 12" XPS Laptop
2x 250gb and 1x 80gb external 2.5" drives (for two copies of 290gb of photos...17gb of images per day...hopefully enough storage!)
50 DVD disks (to provide a 3rd copy of the above images)

  • Mood: Excited
  • Listening to: NIN / BBC Six Music
  • Reading: Chealsea Quinn Yarbro
  • Watching: Monty Python

Travel safe my friend, I have no doubt you will be warmly welcomed and if one day your travels take you down under well you know who to call...

ooo thats a whole lot of equipment... guess you will spend more time gaurding the equipment than enjoying the holiday!

I capture Light, I just happen to have something beautiful infront of it
Thanks for the wishes...the results will certainly appear here...though it will take some time I suspect...there will be lots of photos to go through...

Well, with the exception of a macro lens, that is pretty much what I take on an photo session...the extra hard drives and laptop are a concession to the travel, but everything else is usually around my waist when I photograph!

Sadly, I don't think their are any redheads in my future as models, but one never knows I suppose...

Oh well just damn man, you need to fix that for sure, especially SO close to Ireland :)

Anyway, have a great trip and I look forward to seeing what you come back with. I still have all your submissions up and I look at them constantly. I haven't commented yet, but I will/may soon, but you know how life goes... but I still look at them all.
